Historic Tiles has been created to provide a fresh interpretation in tile of some of the finest designs throughout history.
They very much believe in utilising techniques and skills that have been handed down for generations. The tiles are either made in their own studio or by like-minded potters and craftspeople who can produce work to the expected standard.
Tube lining is a method of decorating tiles developed in the late 19th century and used extensively during the Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts period. It requires a high degree of skill as the outline of each design is piped by hand onto each individual tile. The glazes are then poured into the areas created behind the shallow 'dams' formed by the pipeline decoration.
